When we began our journey of creating the best digital reproduction of pipe organs we started by sampling a lot of excellent pipe ranks by various builders including some fantastic Aeolian-Skinner pipe work. We already had quite a sample library built in the 90’s when we found that the name Aeolian-Skinner was not being actively represented, so we acquired it.
Since then, we have continuously acquired more ranks and we now have a substantial library of their pipe work. We wanted to preserve their sound and to this day we do our best to voice our “ranks” in the traditional Skinner style.
Why does Walker use the name Aeolian Skinner for its digital instruments? We acquired it to preserve their sound.
To us, the name not only represents the console style and features, but more importantly the character of the sound produced. Wouldn’t you consider the sound important to the listener?
So whether you have some of our ranks on your pipe organ, or one of our all digital organs you’re getting some of the best ranks ever created, thanks to the original work of Aeolian-Skinner and many other fine organ builders through the years.
